Happy Occassion

20th Nov 2011

Last Sunday I was invited to shoot the registration of Poh Leen and En-sun marriage at the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association.  It was a very simple and meaningful ceremony.    En-sun is the eldest son of my colleague and long time friend Mr and Mrs Pak Kok Lam.  I remember En-sun was just a shy young teenager when we first met.

May the young couple new life be filled with great blessings and loving kindness.

.
The gracious hosts for the occassion, Mr & Mrs Pak Kok Lam.  And thank you for believing in me.

Bali Revisited

10th Nov - 13th Nov 2011

Since the last posting I visited Bali again.  It is such a magical place.  No wonder it is called  'Island of the Gods'!

We stayed in a wonderful B n B - Sunrise Sawah.  Only 4 rooms.  At night the frogs in the rice fields sing you lullaby.  And in the morning the cockerels and ducks wake you up with their calling.  Hmmm something that did not go down well with the rest!

(this pic supplied by Mary Kresnayasa, the owner of Sunrise Sawah)

And in the morning I went for long walk.  The Subak Sok Wayah is right at the back.

In the late afternoon, our guide Yande took us to see some spectacular sunset.  This is Jimbaran, south of Bali.  It is famous for its seafood restaurant, fisherman village and of course sunset!

Everywhere you go, you meet happy faces.

Our very own 'Abbey Road' moment.  My travelling mates; Cheng, David, Steve and Ah Siong walking along Jalan Raya, Ubud.

Bali is also famous for its dramatic culture.  Imagined the Gamelan orchestra clanging away while a   Legong dancer mesmerizes you with her eyes rolling and robotic movements.

The all male dancers of the Kecak .............cak cak cak cak .....

Getting acquaintance with local flora and fauna ....

Orchids are grown everywhere.

The sacred lotus.

An adult long-tailed macaque enjoying his afternoon oblivious to the tourists milling around him.

Balinese are very into their belief and cultural systems.  Everyday they perform ritual ceremonies several times for good fortune and blessings.

Young maidens praying and making offerings to the Gods.

Canang Sari : a little bowl made from young coconut leaf.  Inside the canang, the Balinese put flower petals, a little bit of food, incense and even some money as an offerings to their deities.

Bali children never had it so good.  Who needs gadgets when the whole island is my playground.

.... and we visited some pretty weird places.  Here is Chung walking on a water maze at the ancient Tirtagangga (water pleasure garden) of the late Raja of Karangasem.

Bali is a place that warrants repeat visits.  There is so much to see and do on that island.  The best plan in any holidays is not to 'overdo'.  My ideal holiday?  Kickback and relax.
